Cal Major was the driving force behind making Westward Ho! a plastics free community. She came to the Westward Ho! Business Association meeting to show the local businesses how to reduce their consumption of single use plastics. She also did an inspiring talk to the Westward Ho! Residents Association too making a lot of the residents really think how they can change. Westward Ho! gained plastic free status this year thanks to Cal's work and effort.
That's not enough for this amazing Westward Ho! woman...She is now paddling a SUP about a 1000 miles from lands End to John O'Groats to send a clear message that plastics in the sea must stop. Cal passed Westward Ho! last week before heading into the Bristol Channel and up. Here is Cal's website so you can see exactly what she is up too and also a link to her fund raising page- https://paddleagainstplastic.com/2018-lands-end-to-john-ogroats/
What a thing to even attempt, some of the waters she has already passed and has to pass are bad enough on a flat day, in a big boat, on a stand up paddle board? What a thing to do, what amazing spirit, what a woman.
We wish you all the best Cal and are proud of what you are doing, the village is lucky to have residents like you.
