The Westward Ho! coast path to Cornbrough Cliffs offers a stunning seaside trek with breathtaking views of the rugged North Devon coastline. This scenic route, perfect for walkers of all levels, takes you through rolling hills and lush greenery, past dramatic cliffs, and serene beaches. Ideal for nature lovers, the path provides ample opportunities for wildlife spotting and photography, making it a must-do for anyone visiting the area.
It can be as sedate or energetic as you want to make it, once on the South West Coastpath, you can turn around and come back to the village anytime you want to. The beginning part of the track is wheel chair friendly, it gets more challenging as it nears Cornbrough.
Entry to the path is past The Pier House heading out of the village, around Seafield House (Spooky House) pictured, where you will find the entrance to the South West Coast Path in front of you.
If you follow the path for about a mile you come to Cornbrough Cliffs. You can gain access to the beach here easily. It's a pebble and rocky beach where the rock pooling is brilliant. If you walk along the beach please be aware of the tide times. At high water, the sea fills most of the bays and would cut you off. This whole area is safe 3 hours after High Water, through the Low Water to 3 hours to High Water. The main beach safe at any time but watch it if the swell is big.
Westward Ho!'s section of the South West Coast Path is a mere snippet of the route that was originally used to look out for smugglers, it is in total over 630 miles long!
